:: Final Project ::

I have always been interested in children’s books. I think the idea of making a piece of art that others can read or even physically take away is a powerful form of interactivity. I have chosen the story of ‘rotkappchen’ or ‘little red cap’ on her way to grandmother’s house. My final project will be a children’s interactive ‘pop-up’ book. The illustrations will be composed in a child-like or simplistic manner with additives of adult humor.

The reader will click on various symbols on the page to learn backgrounds and subplots. For example, clicking on an animal that says it claims to have raibies or mushrooms that promise to intoxicate. The images will be constructed as chapters, each individual chapter relaying the typical expectation of the story. The user will click on the ‘next’ button to see the next chapter. This sequence of images will guide ‘little red cap’ from her beginnings, to the final chapter which grandmother is delivered from the evil clutches of the wolf. The twist will be that the wolf is not killed in the end, but rather, domesticated or shipped off to the wildlife reserve.
